Does a treatment with Botox lead to a frozen facial expression resp. a “Botox-face”?

Unfortunately, the media still convey a perverted picture of Botox treatments.

The goal of every Botox therapy is the relaxation of certain areas during complete preservation of the normal movement functions like laughing, movements of the mouth and cheeks. Usually nobody will notice anything about the treatment – in many cases not even the family or friends.

How does Botox work exactly?

Botox is a natural material which is gained from a bacteria strain.

Botox relaxes the treated muscle regions and the areas of the skin above them are smoothened, wrinkles disappear and their further development is prevented.

How long does effect of Botox last?

The final result is visible after about 1 to 2 days. During this time, the material spreads completely in the desired region. After the first treatment, you can talk about a duration of effect of about 3 to 6 months at the longest. In case of regular use, the duration of effect can be prolonged to up to 8 months.

Do the wrinkles become deeper if I stop using Botox?

No, the wrinkles cannot become deeper if you decide against continuing the therapy after one Botox treatment.

What can Botox be used for?

The positive properties of Botox act effectively in various areas:

  • Frown line
  • Forehead wrinkles
  • Crow’s feet/Laughter lines
  • Upper lip wrinkles
  • Eyebrow raising
  • Marionette folds
  • Fine lines in the area of the eyes and mouth
  • Excessive sweating under the armpits or palms of the hands

Is a treatment with Botox painful and do I have to expect side effects?

For the treatment, exclusively extremely thin injection needles are used and the feeling can be compared to harmless mosquito bites. As the substance is naturally produced and research in this field is already highly advanced, there are almost no side effects. Sometimes redness, bruises or swellings occur, but they disappear again within a short period of time.

How long is the duration of effect of hyaluronic acid?

The result is already visible immediately after injection. Hyaluronic acid is an especially stable material and the duration of effect is up to one year. The anti aging effect is maintained when the treatment is repeated in regular intervals. The combination with other treatments such as Plasma Lifting, Botox or Dermaroller enhances the delay of the skin aging process.

Is a treatment with hyaluronic acid painful and do I have to expect side effects?

Due to the use of extremely small needles, you feel little to no pain at all during the whole procedure. Many patients compare the puncture with a harmless mosquito bite. Often the hyaluronic gel contains a small amount of anaesthetic, which acts locally and therefore the treatment is almost painless. After the injection, small swellings in the treated areas may occur. This can be easily handled with the help of cool packs.

In case of higher amounts of hyaluronic acid, e.g. in the area of the lips, pilling can occur, which will disappear within a few days. In 90% of the cases, these nodules are just palpable but invisible to the unaided eye. The occurrence of this side effect is ranked very low.

Small haematoma may occur as in every medical intervention, but this risk is also very low.

What do I have to consider after a treatment with hyaluronic acid?

The sauna should be avoided for 24 hours as well as steam baths, intense sunbathing or the tanning studio. Make-up can be applied after the treatment without any concern.

What is a treatment with hyaluronic acid suited for?

The treatments range from direct wrinkle treatments to compensation of volume deficits to modelling of the lips or the whole face.

Wrinkle backfilling of

  • Nasolabial folds (fold between nose and mouth)
  • Marionette folds
  • Forehead folds
  • Frown line
  • Upper lip wrinkles

Volume and modelling for

  • Cheek bones
  • Malar bone
  • Small corrections in the area of the nose, nasal bump
  • Tear channel-lower lids
  • Chin shape
  • Lip shape
  • Lips
  • Liquid Lifting

Do treated lips look unnatural or “made”?

Unfortunately, the misbelief that you get an unnatural size of the lips by use of hyaluronic fillers is widespread. A good doctor would never inject so much of it that your lips look “made”. So-called “dinghy-lips” have nothing to do with well-performed plastic surgery!

Do I really look blood-smeared and bright red in the face after a Plasma Lifting?

No. The photos of stars like Bar Rafaeli or Kim Kardashian were taken directly after the treatment, where very small amounts of blood can seep due to the punctures and therefore appear over-dramatized. Of course the face is cleaned after the treatment. As the tissue regeneration is activated, the skin appears reddened right after the treatment, but this vanishes soon. The application of make-up should be avoided for 2 hours.

Does the Plasma Lifting have the same effect as e.g. Liquid Lifting?

No, it is a method to induce the skin’s own regeneration and to delay the aging process of the skin – the face appears younger and fresher, fine wrinkles are mitigated. However, in combination with hyaluronic fillers, also more intense wrinkles like the nasolabial or forehead wrinkles (frown line) can be specifically treated.

Is Plasma Lifting also suitable for very sensitive or allergic skin?

Yes. Because the treatment works with one’s own plasma, no allergic reactions or intolerances can occur.

What is Plasma Lifting suitable for?

Plasma Lifting has a broad field of application which ranges from the face to the neck, the décolleté and hands and the treatment of hair loss.

How does Plasma Lifting work?

The correct medical term is PRP-therapy, also thrombocytes-rich plasma. The blood is immediately centrifuged after extraction, this means the red and white blood cells are separated. The obtained plasma contains so-called growth factors. They simulate the connective tissue cells, the production of collagen and elastin is induced and the entire tissue regenerates. The body-own production of hyaluronic acid increases after the injection, whereby more water is bound and the skin appears fuller, more elastic and more juvenile. PRP-plasma additionally attracts stem cells, which also induces the regeneration of the skin cells to the renewed formation of collagen.

What is Liquid Lifting?

Liquid Lifting is the individual rejuvenation of the face without surgical intervention – without scalpel. This means that various areas are treated against the signs of skin aging, depending on the preconditions, e.g. forehead wrinkles, the frown line, crow’s feet and a lip correction in combination. Primarily, hyaluronic acid is used because lacking volume and wrinkles can be ideally backfilled with it. If necessary, Botox can be additionally used e.g. in the area of the forehead. The treatment should result in a rejuvenated and natural overall appearance. We place particular emphasis on that.

How long is the duration of effect of laser hair removal?

The hair removal is permanent, because the destroyed hair roots cannot grow in again. Nevertheless, there is the phenomenon of “sleeping follicles”. These are hair roots which have not yet developed a hair. If these hair roots, e.g. due to a hormonal change, are woken up, new hair grows which had been invisible during the hair removal and therefore could not be removed.

How many treatments are necessary for a permanent hair removal?

Usually, 4 to 8 treatments in about 4 weeks’ intervals each are necessary. The actual results become visible already after the second treatment.

Do I have to expect side effects in laser hair removal?

In some cases, the treated area can be slightly swollen and reddened, comparable to a sight sunburn. Usually this subsides immediately. Due to the treatment, the skin is a bit irritated and so the formation of minimal scabs can occur. But these are not long lasting as well and so they disappear very soon.

What should I consider before and after the laser treatment?

  • The region to be treated should not be waxed, plucked or epilated for 6 weeks prior to the treatment. Shaving is possible, because the hair roots stay intact in doing so.
  • The skin should not be excessively tanned, because otherwise pigment disorders might occur.
  • For the sittings, the hair must be shortened, because otherwise it could fold over and burn into the skin.
  • During the time of the treatment, tanning studios and bronzers must not be used.
  • After the treatment, excessive UV-exposure should be avoided for 4 weeks.

How does CoolSculpting® work?

CoolSculpting® is a method developed in the USA, which reduces fat depots by use of cold. During this procedure, the regions to be treated are cooled down to exactly defined temperatures, because fat cells react more sensitively to cold than the surrounding tissue, and so they are destroyed and discharged via the immune system.

Is CoolSculpting® an alternative to liposuction?

In many cases, CoolSculpting® can be an alternative to an invasive intervention. In a nonbinding consultation, we work out the best treatment for your concern and an appropriate therapy plan with you.

Is CoolSculpting® suitable for me?

Yes, if you suffer from persistent fat depots, e.g. on the belly, the hips, the upper arms etc. and your Body Mass Index is lower than 30. For severely overweight persons, CoolSculpting® is not suitable.

Is CoolSculpting® painful and do I have to expect side effects?

This method is a very gentle procedure which sufficiently protects tissue and body. The feeling of cold can be perceived as inconvenient in the beginning, but this subsides within a short period of time. After the treatment, the treated area might be reddened, swollen and in some cases there are touch sensitivities. Occasionally, also haematoma can occur. Nevertheless, these are all symptoms which last only very shortly and disappear after a short period of time.

When are the results visible after a CoolSculpting® treatment?

Within a time frame of eight to twelve weeks, certain results are visible. First changes can be recognised already after three weeks.

Which body zones is CoolSculpting® suitable for?

CoolSculpting® is especially suitable for the permanent reduction of fat depots:

  • Hips
  • Belly
  • Upper legs
  • Upper arms
  • Back
  • Chest (men)

Is a permanent reduction of fat possible with CoolSculpting®?

The destroyed fat cells are degraded and removed via the immune system. Nevertheless, gaining weight due to excessive nutrition and too little sports after a CoolSculpting® treatment is possible. To maintain the results, a healthy nutrition in combination with sports is the best solution.

Why can’t I just apply cool packs instead of undergoing a CoolSculpting® treatment?

CoolSculpting® is a scientifically researched procedure. If you would just put ice on the fat depots, the necessary depth effect for the fat reduction would not be given and there would be too low temperatures at the surface which could lead, in the worst case, to damages of the skin, the muscles and the blood vessels.
